Is RoboCop becoming a reality?

What are the scientist up to? Trying to make RoboCop a reality! I just read an article titled

Gordon the robot controlled by living brain
Gordon ... researchers have developed the world's first robot controlled by living brain tissue / AFP

MEET Gordon, probably the world's first robot controlled exclusively by living brain tissue.

Created from cultured rat neurons, Gordon's primitive grey matter was designed at the UK's University of Reading by scientists who unveiled the neuron-powered machine yesterday.

This is getting scary! Call me dumb if you like, but this is scary to me. I won't be surprised if they get a dying person who agree to donate his brain for thier next experiment, then we will have a robot controlled by a living human brain! Their report shows that they are already excited by the achivement they've made so far. What gets me scared really is the claim that:
The robot has no additional control from a human or computer.
That means, it is on its own and may just decided to do whatever it pleases. That to me is dangerous!

Yeah it is scary! Kind of reminds me of the Genesis Chapter 11 when it talks about the tower of Babel. Babel was a city that united humanity, all speaking a single language and migrating from the east; it was the home city of the great king Nimrod, and the first city to be built after the Great Flood. The people decided their city should have a tower so immense that it would have "its top in the heavens." However, God, seeing what the people were able to accomplish while they remained unified, confused their languages and scattered the people throughout the earth.

With everyone united throughout the world who knows what kind of abominations mankind can create?

So, does that mean it has it's own set of rights now that it is its own being?

Thomascslater, wouldn't that mean that god did a dis-service to humanity and that god became jealous of humanity?

Hmm...let's keep everyone talking different languages and fighting each other...in the name of gawd.

Nice, really nice. People like you scare the crap out of me more than the atrocities man can create.

I don't see any problem with what "thomascslater" has written. He has only expressed his personal view and that is okay.

The issue here is not about religion, it is about the insatiable quest of men for knoweldege and the attendant problems.

Imagine, life would have been a lot better if GUN was never discovered and the subsequent BOMBS and other dangerous weapons of warfare.

I personnaly don't like this particular research they have embarked upon. What happens when a robot decides to do its own think using its on SELF-CREATED moral principles?

Sorry you were offended by what I posted I was just posting my opinion like brotee as said I did. I meant no harm by what I posted and I am sorry you felt I did.

The world would be a no different place if they wasn't created.

If man kind wants to kill, we will find a way to do so. Weapons are a mear tool, nothing else and getting rid of them won't do anything.

In Medicial wise, this will be a massive step to help recover from damages like a missing leg from a bomb etc etc.
